Rangamati, Dec 04 (V7N)— The local administration has once again imposed restrictions on tourist travel to Sajek Valley due to security concerns. The announcement was made through a circular signed by Additional District Magistrate Zobaida Akhtar on Tuesday.
The decision comes in the wake of recent incidents of shootings between two regional groups in the Sajek area. The restrictions, effective Wednesday (December 4), aim to ensure the safety of tourists visiting this popular hill destination.
The notification highlighted the ongoing law-and-order concerns in Sajek and its surrounding areas, advising against tourist travel until further notice. The authorities assured that those currently staying in Sajek will be safely evacuated by Wednesday.
The administration has stated that the decision to lift the restrictions will depend on a review of the security situation in the region. Officials emphasized that ensuring tourist safety remains their top priority.
This marks the second time within a month that travel to Sajek Valley has been restricted, reflecting the region's ongoing challenges in maintaining stability.
Sajek Valley, located in Baghaichhari Upazila of Rangamati district, is a major tourist attraction known for its scenic beauty and serene environment. However, the area has faced sporadic security issues due to tensions between local groups, prompting authorities to take precautionary measures.
Tour operators and visitors are advised to stay updated on the situation and adhere to official instructions for their safety.
