Khulna Jan 06 (V7N)- In the first 6 months of the 2024-2025 fiscal year, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has earned a revenue of 162.4 million taka by exporting various types of Bangladeshi products to India through Bhomra land port in Satkhira. The increase in export trade through this port is making a significant contribution to earning foreign exchange. The growth in export value has increased due to the high rate of export trade.

According to the Bhomra Land Customs Station authority, 23 different types of domestic products are being exported to India through this port.  These exported products include yarn, waste, cleaning cloth, caps, jute yarn, polyester staple fiber, kerosene oil, furniture, mosquito nets, polyester yarn, fish nets, plastic bathroom fittings, woven saris, lungis, adar clay, unrefined sesame oil, cotton waste, travel bags, soy acid oil, ready-made garments, toast, juice, chips and lychees.

Until December of the outgoing year (2024), the NBR has earned a revenue of 162.43 million taka in local currency by exporting these domestic products to the Indian market through Bhomra Port. Out of this, in July of the current fiscal year 2024-25, the domestic currency income was 23.457 million taka from the export of 25,562 metric tons of products. In August, the income from the export of 31,648 metric tons of products was 26.326 million taka, in September of the same fiscal year, the income from the export of 30,500.24 metric tons of products was 27.728 million taka, in October, the income from the export of 25,515 metric tons of products was 24.350 million taka, in November, the income from the export of 30,750 metric tons of products was 31.1531 million taka, and in December, the income from the export of 27,604 metric tons of products was 29.696 million taka.

As a result, the government was able to earn 162.43 million taka in local currency by exporting domestic products in the 6 months from July to December of the current fiscal year. Comparative data on exports has been taken from the entry branch of the land customs station. The customs authorities have confirmed the fact that revenue is collected in local currency from export trade.

Abu Musa, General Secretary of Bhomra C&F Agent Association, said that our country is getting benefits like other developing countries in exporting goods. In addition, as the distance from Bhomra land port in Satkhira to Kolkata is shorter than other ports, traders are more interested in using this port. As a result, both import and export are gradually increasing here. The government's revenue income has increased.

Abul Kalam Azad, Deputy Commissioner of Bhomra Land Customs Station, said that export trade has increased significantly in recent times at Bhomra port. The country's top exporting company is using Bhomra port to expand export trade.  23 different types of domestic products are being exported to the neighboring country of India through Bhomra Port. The government has earned a revenue of Tk 16.24 crore in the outgoing year by exporting these products abroad. As a result, the growth in export value at Bhomra Port is 18.95 percent compared to other land ports of the country.
