Khulna Jan 13 (V7N)- A meeting to review the progress of the Khulna City Corporation's "Climate Change Adaptation and Urban Development (CCAUD)" project was held at the GIZ auditorium of Nagar Bhaban on Sunday afternoon. Administrator Md. Firoz Sarkar presided over the meeting.
The Bangladesh government, German Development Bank (KfW) and KCC are jointly financing this project. Under the project, the construction of a city protection dam and embankment in the Daulatpur and Maheshwarpasha crematorium ghat areas of the metropolis, excavation of 4 important canals and embankment of both banks of the canal, renovation and embankment of 17 ponds, development of Sonadanga bypass road and development of drainage system will be done. The cost of the project is estimated at 491 crore taka.
The design preparation work of the project will be done in the month of January. It is expected to be completed. Administrator Md. Firoz Sarkar expressed satisfaction with the progress of the work and emphasized on the timely completion of this very important project for the city residents.
KCC Chief Executive Officer Laskar Tajul Islam, Chief Engineer Mashiuzzaman Khan, Secretary Sharif Asif Rahman, Chief Planning Officer Abir ul Jabbar, Project GIS Officer Ferdous Hussain, Safeguard Officer Md. Nahidur Rahman, Assistant Engineer Md. Saiful Islam, Team Leader of the Consulting Firm Dr. Ashit K Mohanty, Deputy Team Leader Md. Asadul Mannan, Project Director Christian Cookman, Officer Anjali Butner, Jesper Mathew and others were present in the meeting.
