Teknaf, Jan 17, (V7N) - A devastating fire broke out at the Nayapara Rohingya camp in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar, late Thursday night, destroying more than 100 houses and claiming the life of a 5-year-old child.

The blaze erupted in the G-Block of the Mochoni camp around 11:30 pm. Teknaf Nayapara camp in-charge, Abdul Hannan, confirmed the incident, stating, "There was a sudden fire in the camp. Fire service members, along with locals, worked together to bring it under control."
The identity of the deceased child is yet to be confirmed. The authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the fire. Meanwhile, hundreds of residents have been left homeless, grappling with the tragedy and loss of their belongings.
Relief efforts are expected to begin soon, while the affected families await urgent support.
