Rajshahi, Feb 23 (V7N) – Police have recovered the body of a businessman with Scotch tape wrapped around his mouth from the Padma riverside in Rajshahi city. The body was found on Friday afternoon in a bush near the Lalon Shah Freedom Stage area. Police suspect that the man was murdered and his body dumped in the bush.

The deceased has been identified as Abul Basar, also known as Mintu (35). Mintu was a businessman living in the Mirzapour East Para area of Rajshahi. He owned an electric appliance shop at Binodpur Bazaar.

Rajpara Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ashraful Islam said that a few people visiting the area noticed the body and alerted the police. Many visitors also shared pictures of the body on social media. Upon recognition by the victim’s family, the body was identified as Mintu’s.

The OC further mentioned that Mintu’s family had been unable to contact him since Thursday afternoon. His face was covered with plastic, and Scotch tape was wrapped around it.

The police suspect foul play based on the evidence and have sent the body to the Rajshahi Medical College morgue for autopsy. A murder case will be filed, according to the police.
