Chittagong, May 03 (V7N) – Police have arrested Md. Mehedi Hasan, the prime suspect in the case involving the fatal shooting of two individuals in a private car on Chittagong’s Access Road. Following his arrest, authorities recovered a foreign-made pistol, two magazines, and two bullets based on information provided by the accused.
Mehedi, a resident of the Bayazid Bostami area of Chittagong city, was apprehended on Friday night (May 2) from the landless market area of Noler Char in Hatia upazila, Noakhali, following a tip-off. A team from the Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) carried out the operation.
Police later conducted a raid at a house in West Shahidnagar under Bayazid Bostami Police Station, where the illegal firearm and ammunition were recovered.
According to police, on the night of March 30, followers of rival terrorist Chhota Sajjad opened fire on a private vehicle carrying Sarwar Hossain, a police-listed criminal. The attack, which took place in the Access Road area under Chawkbazar Police Station, left two people dead on the spot. Mehedi Hasan has been identified as the main accused in the case.
Law enforcement agencies are continuing their investigation, and further arrests may follow as part of the crackdown on organized crime networks in Chittagong.
