Chattogram, July 05 (V7N) — The runway at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram has reopened following the removal of an aircraft that developed a mechanical fault after landing.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-138, arriving from Medina, Saudi Arabia, carried 387 pilgrims when it landed at approximately 9:30 am on Saturday (July 5). Upon reaching the end of runway-23, the aircraft experienced a mechanical failure, causing the runway to be temporarily closed.
Airport authorities confirmed that all passengers were safely evacuated from the aircraft. The plane was then carefully moved from the runway to the apron. After the fault was addressed and the aircraft relocated, normal airport operations resumed after about two hours.
Officials assured that no injuries were reported and flights are now operating smoothly.
