Netrakona, Aug 28 (V7N) – The prices of daily vegetables and kitchen essentials at Netrakona’s main municipal supermarket remained mostly stable on Wednesday, bringing relief to consumers amid ongoing concerns over rising living costs.

From 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM on August 27, a visit to the Netrakona Municipal Super Market — one of the district’s largest fresh produce hubs — revealed that vegetable prices remained within an affordable range for most shoppers.

Local potatoes were selling at Tk 14 per kg, while Diamond variety potatoes ranged from Tk 16 to Tk 17. Wholesale onions were priced at Tk 67 per kg, while imported (LC) onions were also available. Green chilies sold at Tk 110 per kg, lemons at Tk 30, papayas at Tk 15, and yardlong beans (borboti) at Tk 80 per kg. Carrots were being sold at Tk 110, and tomatoes reached up to Tk 130 per kg.

Among kitchen essentials, local garlic was selling for Tk 100 per kg, while imported garlic ranged between Tk 120 and Tk 150. Coriander seeds were Tk 160 per kg, tiger turmeric at Tk 250, and local turmeric at Tk 240. Ginger prices varied from Tk 130 to Tk 160 per kg. Dried red chilies were available in a wide range — Tk 140 to Tk 290 per kg, depending on variety and quality.

Other vegetables like eggplants (Tk 50–60), wax gourd (Tk 40–50), and taro (mukhi), priced between Tk 25 and Tk 30 per kg, were also in good supply.

According to leaders of the Netrakona Raw and Ripe Goods Traders’ Welfare Association, there is no syndicate influencing prices, and regular monitoring helps maintain price stability.

Local buyers across income levels expressed satisfaction with the affordability and availability of essential items. Many noted that the consistency in prices has allowed them to manage household budgets more comfortably, especially during the late monsoon season when price volatility is usually expected.
