Kathalia, Sept 4 (V7N) — A large pothole emerged on the main road leading to the Kathalia Upazila Health Complex, causing severe disruption to both public and emergency transport. Located at the far end of Ward No. 9 of Kathalia Sadar Union—along the Bottala–Amua Hospital Road—the damaged stretch had created significant hardship and heightened the risk of serious accidents.
Despite its pressing nature, the road’s deterioration had long been overlooked by local authorities. In response, on Wednesday morning (September 3), young residents from Hetalbunia and Amua organized themselves to carry out emergency road repairs using their own resources. Their swift, collective effort has restored passage for both ambulances and everyday traffic, alleviating residents’ immediate suffering.
Milon Gharami, a youth leader involved in the effort, said: “Although the road had developed this dangerous pothole long ago, the responsible officials never inspected or repaired it. So we youth took it upon ourselves to fix the road.”
However, locals cautioned that this grassroots initiative is only a temporary solution. They appealed to the relevant authorities for durable and sustainable repairs to ensure long-term safety and accessibility.
