Khagrachhari, Sept 11 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Army has set up a solar-powered clean drinking water system in Rejamoni Para of Panchhari upazila, ensuring safe water supply for nearly 120 families in Rejamoni Para and Karigar Para villages.

The initiative follows the visit of the Army Chief to Rejamoni Para Army Camp on March 29, 2025, where he exchanged views with locals, including public representatives and community leaders. After listening to their concerns, particularly the long-standing shortage of safe drinking water, he directed the installation of a sustainable, solar-powered water supply system.

For decades, villagers relied on natural streams and open wells, often exposing themselves to waterborne diseases. With the new system, households now have access to clean water directly at their homes, significantly improving their quality of life.

Residents expressed gratitude to the Army Chief, recalling his earlier posting as camp commander in the same area. Local leaders said the project not only addressed a critical need but also symbolized the Army’s continued commitment to both security and socio-economic development in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

Brigadier General Hasan Mahmud noted that the project stands as a testament to the Army’s broader development efforts in the region, aimed at improving the lives of indigenous communities alongside maintaining peace and security.
