Rajbari, Jan 04 (V7N)- Ferry services on the country’s important Daulatdia–Paturia waterway resumed on Sunday (January 4) at 11:20 am after remaining suspended for nearly 12 hours due to dense fog.

The suspension was imposed from 11:30 pm on Saturday night as thick fog enveloped the lower reaches of the Padma River, severely reducing visibility and raising the risk of accidents.

With ferry operations halted, Dhaka-bound vehicles and passengers from the southern region faced significant hardship amid the biting cold. More than a hundred vehicles were seen stranded on the roads in the Daulatdia area while waiting to cross the river.

BIWTC Daulatdia Ghat Manager Mohammad Salahuddin said ferry services were resumed once fog density decreased. “There is not much pressure in the vehicle queue as many drivers chose alternative routes after learning about the suspension,” he said.

Authorities advised drivers and passengers to remain cautious as foggy conditions may persist during winter mornings and nights.
