Jhalokathi, Jan 13 (V7N) — On Monday, January 12, Youth Redcare Social Organization Amua, in collaboration with the Amua Upazila Fire Station, organized an earthquake and fire safety awareness drill at the Shahid Raja Degree College ground in Amua, Kathalia.

The program was presided over by acting principal of the college, Mohammad Abdul Halim. The chief guest was Sub-Officer (Acting) of the Upazila Fire Station, Md. Abdul Wadud. Other distinguished guests included Assistant Professor and former acting principal Samir Kumar Saha and General Secretary of the College Teachers’ Association, Assistant Professor Md. Jahangir Alam.

Speeches were delivered by Youth Redcare Social Organization Amua’s President, Mehedi Hasan Tuhin, and General Secretary, Md. Mehedi Sikdar, among others.

Following the discussions, a practical demonstration of earthquake response and fire safety measures was conducted on the college ground. The event concluded with a short play written and presented by the college’s Assistant Professor and Rover teacher, Laila Arzu Mand Banur, focusing on disaster awareness.

The event was attended by college faculty, staff, and students, members of Youth Redcare Social Organization Amua, teachers and students from Amua Bandar Amir Molla Secondary School, Amua AC Balika Secondary School, and Amua Bandar Government Primary School, along with local community leaders and dignitaries.

Organizers emphasized the importance of disaster preparedness and encouraged students and residents to follow safety protocols in the event of earthquakes or fires, highlighting the critical role of community awareness in minimizing risks.
