Rangamati, Jan 20 (V7N) — Jewel Sikder, an associate professor of the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department at Rangamati University of Science and Technology (RUST), has been dismissed from service on charges of securing his job through forged documents and concealment of information.
University sources said Jewel Sikder was accused of submitting a fake experience certificate, forging signatures, and using a counterfeit letterhead of Southern University Bangladesh. He allegedly forged the signatures of the head of the CSE department and the registrar of Southern University and concealed relevant information to obtain employment and financial benefits at RUST.
To verify the allegations, the university administration formed three separate investigation committees. Following detailed inquiries, all three committees independently found the allegations to be proven beyond doubt, according to university officials.
Based on the investigation reports, the matter was placed before the 9th meeting of the RUST Board of Regents, held on December 17, 2025, where Jewel Sikder was unanimously found guilty.
In accordance with the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018, he was removed from service with effect from December 17, 2025, and his post was officially declared vacant.
The university administration has also ordered him to immediately return all salaries and financial benefits received since joining RUST. Authorities further stated that legal action will be taken if the instructions are not complied with.
