Narsingdi, Feb 27 (V7N) — A teenage girl has been killed in Madhabdi after allegedly being abducted in front of her father amid ongoing demands for justice over a prior sexual violence case. Police have so far arrested five individuals in connection with the incident, while the prime suspect remains on the run.
The victim’s mother, Fahima Begum, lodged a case with Madhabdi Police Station on Thursday night (February 26). Following the case filing, law enforcement carried out multiple raids across the district, leading to the arrest of five suspects by Friday morning.
The detainees include Mahishasura Union BNP Vice-President Ahmed Ali Dewan and his son Imran Dewan, along with Mohammad Ayub, Ebaidullah and Gaffar from the Hossain Bazar area. Police said the alleged mastermind, Noora, is still absconding.
Confirming the matter, Narsingdi Superintendent of Police Abdullah-al-Farooq said that raids are underway in the district and outside the district to arrest the remaining accused.
According to local sources and family members, the victim had earlier been subjected to sexual violence roughly two weeks prior to the murder. Allegations have surfaced that attempts were made to settle the matter informally, which the family rejected while continuing to seek legal action.
Family members claim that as pressure for justice mounted, the assailants abducted the girl and later killed her, leaving the body in a field in the Kotalirchar Darikandi area of Mahishasura Union.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and assured that all those involved will be brought under the law.
