Jhenaidah, Mar 08 (V7N) – Miscreants set fire to three buses parked at the central bus terminal in Jhenaidah city at around 3:30 am on Saturday, causing significant damage.

Jhenaidah Fire Service Inspector Tanvir Hasan confirmed the incident to the media. The affected buses were J Line, Royal Transport, and Golden Line.

According to reports, the buses were parked side by side, and the terminal was mostly empty at the time, except for a few long-distance and inter-district buses. The arsonists reportedly set the buses on fire and fled the scene.

Jahangir Hossain, owner of the J Line bus, said, “I came to the terminal after receiving the news and saw my bus along with two others burning. Fire service personnel were working to extinguish the fire.”

Rakunuzzaman Ranu, co-general secretary of the Bus-Minibus Owners’ Association Central Committee and president of the Jhenaidah Bus-Minibus Management Committee, condemned the attack. He noted that a boy had reportedly been beaten to death the previous night over a fuel-related dispute at Srijani’s Harun-ur-Rashid oil pump, and called for an investigation to see if the incidents were related.

Inspector Tanvir Hasan added that two fire service units responded quickly to put out the fire. The cause of the fire and the extent of financial loss will be determined after further investigation.
