Satkhira, May 27 (V7N)- Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has stepped up patrols along the Hakimpur border area in Satkhira following allegations that India’s Border Security Force (BSF) attempted to push individuals into Bangladesh, claiming they were Bangladeshi nationals.

The incident was reported on Wednesday (May 27), following heightened border activity opposite the Kakdanga border area.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) officials said the situation became tense after reports that the BSF increased patrols on the Indian side and attempted to send individuals across the border.

Lieutenant Colonel Kazi Ashiqur Rahman, commander of Satkhira 33 BGB, said BGB units intensified monitoring and patrol operations after receiving information about possible “push-in” attempts during the night of Tuesday (May 26). He added that no further attempt was made after BGB strengthened its alert posture.

He also stated that BGB remains vigilant, as similar attempts could occur at any point along the border, but assured that such actions would not be allowed.

Meanwhile, reports from Kolkata-based journalists indicated that around 110 people are being held at a shelter home near the Hakimpur border under Baduria police station in North 24 Parganas district. Another 70 individuals were reportedly added by Wednesday morning, bringing the total to around 180 people currently under BSF custody.
