Rangamati, 09 MAy (V7N) - A university student tragically died after drowning in Kaptai Lake in Rangamati while taking a bath. The deceased student has been identified as Intishar Hasnat (22). He was a student of the Department of International Relations at Chittagong University.

According to local sources, Intishar Hasnat went on a boat trip to Kaptai Lake with friends while on a trip to Rangamati. At one stage of the boat trip, the boat was anchored on the sandbank in the Reserve Bazar area, and some tourists entered the lake water.

At that time, Intishar Hasnat drowned in deep water and disappeared. Witnesses said that before entering the water, when the boat driver asked the tourists if they knew how to swim, they answered in the affirmative.

After a while, the situation deteriorated when someone suddenly started shouting for help. Boatman Tarun Chakma said he was out on a boat trip on Kaptai Lake with four tourists.

After stopping the boat in the Baluchar area, they entered the water. Later, when one of them gave a distress signal, he quickly went ahead and was able to rescue the two people. However, Intishar Hasnat could not be rescued. Upon receiving the information, the diving team of Rangamati Fire Service reached the spot and started the rescue operation.

After a long search, they rescued Intishar Hasnat and took her to Rangamati General Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared her dead.

It is learned that the deceased Intisha Hasnat's father, Belal Hossain, is a teacher. Their home is in DHS, Bayezid area of ​​Chittagong city.

Rangamati Fire Service Deputy Director Newton Das said that as soon as the news of the accident was received, a diving team went to the scene and conducted a rescue operation.

After the rescue, the student was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Meanwhile, fire service officials have issued a warning to tourists after the accident.

They have urged people who do not know how to swim to exercise utmost caution and not to enter the deep waters of Kaptai Lake.
