Comilla, Oct 03 (V7N)- Police have arrested 363 alleged members of juvenile gangs in a special drive conducted across 18 police stations in Comilla.

The operation was carried out by different units of the district police, including the Detective Branch (DB), from 7 pm to midnight on Friday (October 2).

According to the district police, the drive was conducted in areas where juvenile gang activity has been reported. District Superintendent of Police Md. Anisuzzaman led the operation, with senior police officials participating.

Police said the drive was aimed at preventing teenagers from becoming involved in criminal activities and maintaining law and order in the district.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Lutfur Rahman said police are currently verifying whether those arrested were involved in criminal activities.

He said necessary legal action would be taken against those found involved in crimes following the verification process.

Lutfur Rahman also said regular operations against juvenile gangs are being conducted across the district. Police are maintaining strict monitoring during such drives to prevent harassment of anyone not involved in criminal activities.

District police said a total of 1,672 people have so far been arrested in anti-juvenile gang operations in Comilla.

Of them, 1,130 have been released on bail, while 542 have been sent to jail in connection with various offences.

Police said such operations will continue as part of efforts to prevent juvenile gang activity and protect young people from involvement in crime.
