Severe cyclonic storm Rimahl has triggered heavy rainfall leading to waterlogging in most parts of the city, causing inconvenience to residents.

The downpour began on Sunday night, accompanied by strong winds. The incessant rain flooded low-lying areas of the city. 

On Monday, from 6 am to 9 am, the meteorological office recorded 132 millimeters of rainfall.Areas including Kapasgola, Bohoddarhat, Badurtala, Chakbazar, Muradpur,Soloshahar 2 no. Gate, Wasa Circle, Tin Poler Matha, and Mehedibagh CDA Colony have been submerged. 

Upstream areas near the city, including Akmal Ali Road and Jelepara , are also affected.More than 300 families have been affected by the deluge.

All government primary and secondary educational institutions in the district have suspended classes on Monday. 

According to the weather department, the cyclonic storm Rimahl has caused heavy rainfall in the city and its surroundings.

Chittagong recorded 205.4 millimeters of rainfall in the last 24 hours.MHM Mosaddek, a meteorologist at the Patenga Weather Office, reported that on Sunday night at 8 o'clock, cyclone Rimahl hit the upstream areas of Bangladesh, causing heavy rain. It then crossed over the upstream areas of Bangladesh, leading to rainfall in the affected regions.
