Dhaka, Sep 15 (V7N) – Another murder case has been filed against former Narayanganj mayor Selina Hayat Ivy, along with 99 named individuals, including former Member of Parliament (MP) AKM Shamim Osman. The case, linked to the death of rickshaw puller Tuhin (36) during an anti-discrimination student movement, also accuses an additional 200 to 300 unnamed individuals.

The case was lodged by Aleya Akhter Meem, the widow of the deceased rickshaw puller, at Siddhirganj Police Station on Saturday. Tuhin was killed on July 20, when he was allegedly caught in the crossfire of political violence near the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in front of a Dutch Bangla Bank branch.

According to the case statement, during the movement, Awami League leaders and activists, reportedly under the direct orders of former MP Shamim Osman, opened fire. It was alleged that Osman himself shot Tuhin, leading to his death.

This is the second murder case filed against Ivy and Shamim in recent weeks. A previous case, related to the death of Monirul Islam, who was killed in Siddhirganj on September 3, also named 300 anonymous suspects, further intensifying political tensions in Narayanganj.

The list of high-profile accused in the latest case includes former MPs Nazrul Islam Babu (Narayanganj-2), Kaiser Hasnat (Narayanganj-3), and Golam Dastgir Gazi (Narayanganj-1). Prominent Narayanganj political figures, such as Narayanganj Metropolitan Awami League President Anwar Hossain, Shamim Osman's son Ayan Osman, nephew Ajmeri Osman, and Siddhirganj Thana Awami League leaders Mojibur Rahman and Haji Yachin Mia, are also among those implicated.

The legal developments are set to deepen the already volatile political atmosphere in Narayanganj, with further investigations likely to follow.
