Kushtia, Oct 30 (V7N)- Students of Islamic University (IU) held a protest procession on Wednesday, calling for strict punishment and the resignation of those allegedly involved in "Awami League-linked fascism" during the July student movement. The protest, organized by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement’s IU unit, began at the university’s Bot-tola around noon, moving through campus and ending in front of the administration building.

During the protest, the group’s coordinators emphasized the need for accountability, demanding punishment for those accused of suppressing the student movement. They also called on university officials to address pending cases with the International Crimes Tribunal and insisted that future admissions should be solely merit-based, with no quota admissions.

"Those in the administration who supported or enabled repression during the July student movement must face maximum punishment," said SM Sweet, the movement’s coordinator, adding that admissions and recruitment should prioritize merit without exception.

Chanting slogans such as “No more compromises, time to take the final stand” and “Beware, Chhatra League allies,” the students reinforced their call for a university free from political interference.
