Pabna, Oct 31 (V7N) — A public discussion titled *"Global Nuclear Energy: Facts and Myths"* took place at Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST) on Thursday at 11 a.m., organized by the university’s Department of Physics in collaboration with Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant. The session, held at Gallery-2, aimed to educate students and faculty on the realities and misconceptions surrounding nuclear energy.

The Dean of the Faculty of Science, Professor Dr. Md. Fazlul Haque, attended as the chief guest, with Proctor Professor Dr. Kamruzzaman Khan and Director of Student Counseling and Guidance Office, Dr. Md. Rashedul Haque, present as special guests. Associate Professor Pritam Kumar Das from the Physics Department delivered the keynote address, joined by Farooq Ahmed, Chairman of the Chemistry Department, and representatives from Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, including Deputy Manager (Training) Abdur Rahman and Scientific Officer Sharaf Uddin.

Dr. Md. Fazlul Haque emphasized the critical role of nuclear energy for Bangladesh’s future, noting, “Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant will be instrumental in addressing our energy needs and supporting national progress.”

In his keynote, Associate Professor Pritam Kumar Das highlighted the importance of adopting nuclear energy to meet the nation’s growing fuel demands. *“As Bangladesh advances, the need for reliable energy sources rises. We must diversify our fuel sources, including nuclear energy, to fulfill these requirements,”* he explained, providing insights into the science and safety behind nuclear power.

The event saw active participation from faculty and students of the Physics and Chemistry departments, as well as other departments, fostering a rich dialogue on the potential and challenges of nuclear energy for Bangladesh.
