Dhaka, Jan 25 (V7N) — Dhaka University (DU) has implemented significant reforms to its quota system in admission tests, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan announced today.
Under the new system, only children of freedom fighters will be eligible for quota benefits, excluding grandchildren of freedom fighters from the admission process.
Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan shared this update while inspecting the admission test for the Arts, Law, and Social Sciences units.
This year, 125,418 students applied for 2,934 seats across these units, creating intense competition with 43 students vying for each seat. The exam was conducted simultaneously in eight divisional cities, including Dhaka, to facilitate accessibility for applicants.
The Vice-Chancellor emphasised that the reform aims to ensure fairness and rationality in the quota system, aligning with the university's commitment to merit-based admissions.
