Dhaka, Feb 01 (V7N)— The country’s largest month-long Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2025 was inaugurated today by Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor to the interim government, at the Bangla Academy and Suhrawardy Udyan premises.

Dr. Yunus formally opened the fair at 4 PM, marking the beginning of the annual literary celebration that attracts book lovers, writers, and publishers from across the country. The theme for this year's fair is "July Mass Uprising: Building a New Bangladesh."

The inaugural event was presided over by Professor Abul Kashem Fazlul Haque, President of Bangla Academy, with Cultural Affairs Advisor Mostafa Sarwar Farooqui attending as a special guest. Mohammad Azam, Director General of Bangla Academy, delivered the welcome speech.

This year, a record 708 publishers are participating in the fair, with 99 stalls at Bangla Academy and 609 stalls at Suhrawardy Udyan. Additionally, 37 pavilions have been set up, including one at Bangla Academy and 36 at Suhrawardy Udyan. The popular Little Magazine Corner, featuring 130 stalls, is located under the trees near the open stage.

Various cultural activities, including recitations, music competitions, and Shilpacharya events, will be held throughout the month.

The Amar Ekushey Book Fair is an integral part of Bangladesh’s cultural heritage, commemorating the Language Movement of 1952 and celebrating the country’s literary and intellectual achievements.
