Dhaka, Apr 16 (V7N) – The Student Rights Council has demanded the immediate announcement of a specific roadmap and date for the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) elections, emphasizing the need for a level playing field for all student bodies.
The demand was made during a press conference held on Wednesday (April 16) morning in front of the DUCSU building on the Dhaka University campus.
In their statements, the council's president and general secretary urged the university administration to move forward with the DUCSU election process without delay or excuse. They also criticized the previous Awami League-era DUCSU leadership, alleging that it failed to uphold student rights and democratic practices.
Highlighting past election irregularities, the council leaders stressed that the DUCSU must be reinstated to ensure student participation in decision-making and to allow general students to exercise their voting rights.
They also warned against influence from political or special interest groups, calling on students to remain united and resist falling into political traps that may derail a fair and inclusive election process
