Dhaka, Sep 07 (V7N) – Candidates of the Bangladesh Nationalist Chhatra Dal-backed Abid-Hamim-Mayed Parishad have taken their oaths for the upcoming Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and Hall Parliament elections 2025.
The oath-taking ceremony was held on Sunday afternoon at Dhaka University, beginning with the national anthem. During the ceremony, candidates pledged their commitment to the independence, sovereignty, and democratic values of the country.
The oath included commitments to:
-
Prevent the return of past oppressive practices on campus, such as public room systems, guest room torture, forced political participation, and persecution of dissenting voices.
-
Resist any forces that threaten democracy, independence, or the people’s rights, drawing inspiration from the July 2024 anti-fascist movement, the 1990 anti-dictatorship movement, the 1971 Liberation War, the 1952 Language Movement, and the 1947 Partition movement.
-
Ensure a safe, secure, and empowering environment for female students, including safe housing, healthcare, equal rights, and empowerment initiatives.
-
Improve campus facilities, including hall seating, nutritious food, quality healthcare, cleanliness, and convenient transportation.
-
Prevent online threats such as cyberbullying, misinformation, disinformation, and fake news to ensure students’ digital safety.
-
Promote academic excellence, quality research, sports, cultural activities, and career-building opportunities.
-
Uphold etiquette, mutual respect, and democratic conduct in relations with political opponents within DUCSU.
-
Implement these commitments through accountable and transparent actions if elected.
The panel urged students to support their candidates, emphasizing the importance of building a safe, equitable, and student-friendly Dhaka University in line with the aspirations of the July 2024 mass uprising.
