Dhaka, Feb 10 (V7N) — A five-day holiday has been declared for all educational institutions across the country on the occasion of the 13th National Parliament election and referendum, according to a decision by the Ministry of Education.

As per the decision, all classroom activities will remain suspended from February 11 to February 15.

Among these days, February 11 and 12 have been declared general holidays by the government in view of the election. This will be followed by the regular weekly holidays on Friday and Saturday (February 13 and 14). In addition, February 15 will be observed as a religious holiday on the occasion of Sri Sri Shivaratri fasting, completing a continuous five-day break for educational institutions.

This has been described as the first major holiday for educational institutions this year. According to the annual holiday list of the Ministry of Education, it is also the fifth official holiday of 2026.

Meanwhile, the government has declared February 11 as a public holiday for the election. Authorities have also announced that workers in industrial areas will enjoy a general holiday on February 10, the day before the election.

Education officials said the extended holiday has been arranged to ensure the smooth conduct of the election process. At the same time, many parents believe the break will provide students and families an opportunity to rest and prepare during the election period.
