Dhaka, Feb 10 (V7N) — Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan has announced his decision to resign, a day before the 13th National Parliament elections.

He made the announcement during a press conference at the Professor Abdul Matin Chowdhury Virtual Classroom adjacent to the VC’s office on Tuesday afternoon (February 10). He said he will submit his resignation to the President once the new political government assumes office.

“I am stepping down so that the elected political government can organize the administration in their own way,” he told journalists.

It is noteworthy that after the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, 2024, the then DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Maqsud Kamal resigned on August 10, 2024. Following that, Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, former chairman of the university’s Development Studies Department, was appointed as the VC on August 27, 2024.
