Rangamati, Sept. 14 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Army has launched a computer training programme in Rangamati aimed at equipping young people in the Chittagong Hill Tracts with information technology skills and expanding their opportunities for employment and self-employment.
The “Computer Training-2026” programme was inaugurated on Sunday (Sept. 13) afternoon under the initiative of Rangamati Sadar Zone. Major Md. Zulfikar Rahman, PSC, acting zone commander of Rangamati Zone, inaugurated the training programme.
A total of 20 young men and women are taking part in the training, with special emphasis on involving young people from disadvantaged hill communities as well as Bengali communities.
The training provides practical instruction on basic computer operations, the use of essential software, internet browsing, information searching and the effective use of technology in everyday life.
Speaking at the inauguration, the acting zone commander said an educated and skilled workforce was one of the key foundations of sustainable development in any region.
He said developing young people's information technology skills could create opportunities for them to become more self-reliant.
He also said involving hill and Bengali youths together in the training would further strengthen mutual cooperation, goodwill and social harmony among the communities.
Those involved in the initiative expressed hope that the Bangladesh Army's programme would not only engage young people in the Chittagong Hill Tracts in technology-based education but also contribute positively to skills development, employment opportunities and socio-economic progress in the region.
