DU, July 15 (V7N)- A violent clash erupted at Dhaka University on Monday afternoon when Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists allegedly attacked quota protestors gathered for a rally. The incident occurred near Bijoy Ekattor Hall, where BCL members reportedly assaulted protestors with sticks, stumps, and iron rods, resulting in numerous injuries.

According to reports from the scene, around 120 injured students were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment. The campus remains tense with a heavy police presence following the incident.

Earlier, protestors had assembled at Raju Sculpture to protest Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's recent remarks regarding the quota reform movement. The rally, which included students from various universities and colleges, was marred by clashes between quota activists and BCL leaders, allegedly obstructing protestors from joining the demonstration.

Prime Minister Hasina's comments criticizing those opposed to quotas for freedom fighters had sparked nationwide protests among students, culminating in the violent confrontation at Dhaka University.
