Dhaka, August 10 — Authorities at Dhaka Medical College have officially banned all forms of student politics on campus, with immediate disciplinary action to be taken against any student found engaging in political activities.
The decision was made during an academic council meeting on Saturday. A notice signed by the college's Principal, Professor Dr. Md. Shafikul Alam Chowdhury, stated that the ban applies to all student organizations, including Chhatra League, Chhatra Dal, Chhatra Shibir, and any other newly formed groups. The prohibition extends to the entire Dhaka Medical College Campus, Shahid Dr. Fazle Rabbi dormitory, and Dr. Alim Chowdhury Student Base.
The notice emphasized that any student found to be involved in political activities—whether openly or secretly—such as organizing discussions, holding political programs, or promoting related activities on campus or in the hostels, will face immediate disciplinary measures.
The academic council also paid tribute to the victims of the anti-discrimination student movement, seeking forgiveness for their souls. Additionally, the council committed to ensuring proper treatment for the students injured during the recent unrest.
