Dhaka, August 15 – The new schedule for the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations, which were postponed due to the violent situation surrounding the recent political movement, has been released. According to the revised timetable, the exams are set to commence on September 11, 2024.

The announcement was made on Thursday through a notification signed by Professor Md. Abul Bashar, the convenor of the Inter-Education Board Examination Control Committee. The exams will be conducted across all educational boards in Bangladesh, including Dhaka, Rajshahi, Jessore, Comilla, Chittagong, Barisal, Sylhet, Dinajpur, and Mymensingh.

On the night of July 16, the government ordered the indefinite closure of all educational institutions nationwide, leading to the postponement of the HSC and equivalent exams scheduled for July 18. The Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee subsequently postponed all higher secondary examinations until August 1.

Initially, there were plans to resume the exams from August 4 as per the pre-announced schedule. However, due to continued unrest and violent incidents, including damage to examination centers and the burning of question papers, these exams were postponed again.

Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar, the Coordinator of the Inter-Education Board Coordinating Committee, noted that new question papers are currently being printed to replace those that were destroyed. Following the proposal sent to the Ministry of Education, the new exam schedule has been finalized, with the examinations now set to begin on September 11.

This updated schedule aims to ensure the smooth conduct of the exams while considering the safety and security of students amid the ongoing challenges.
