Dhaka, August 19 — Students from Siddheshwari girl's High School have taken to the streets, blocking the road at Shantinagar intersection to demand the resignation of the institution's assistant principal, Delwar. The protest, which began around 10:30 am on Monday, has caused significant traffic congestion in the area.
The demonstration, led by students from the Bangla Version section, features various slogans and chants. The students are voicing their dissatisfaction over what they allege to be unjust actions by the assistant principal. Specifically, they claim that Delwar prevented them from lighting candles on Sunday to commemorate the victims of the anti-discrimination student movement. Additionally, they accuse BCL (Bangladesh Chhatra League) leaders of insulting female students.
The roadblock continues to impact traffic flow in Shantinagar, as the students remain firm in their demands. The protest highlights ongoing tensions surrounding the handling of student grievances and institutional responses to recent social movements.
