New Delhi, Nov 19 (V7N) — Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and a key figure in several high-profile criminal cases, has been arrested immediately upon his extradition to India.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) took him into custody on Wednesday as soon as the aircraft carrying him landed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. Later in the day, a Delhi court ordered that Anmol be placed in NIA custody for 11 days, according to multiple Indian media reports.
Anmol Bishnoi was detained in the United States in April this year. He is wanted in India in connection with at least 31 cases, including several major criminal incidents. Among the most notable is his alleged involvement in the murder of popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. He is also accused in the murder of former Maharashtra minister and controversial political figure Baba Siddiqui.
Additionally, Anmol is suspected of orchestrating the shooting incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence in April last year. Police had been searching for him since that attack.
Anmol reportedly fled India in 2022, traveling through Nepal, Dubai, and Kenya before settling in the United States. He is the younger brother of Lawrence Bishnoi, one of India’s most notorious gang leaders and the head of the Bishnoi syndicate.
