Entertainment Desk, May 08 (V7N) — Global Latin pop superstar Shakira is set to return to the FIFA World Cup stage after a long break, creating excitement among football and music fans worldwide.

On Thursday (May 8), Shakira released a teaser for the official theme song of the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup titled Dai Dai. Nigerian music sensation Burna Boy has collaborated with her on the track.

The teaser video, filmed at the iconic Maracanã Stadium, was shared on social media and immediately drew global attention. The video features dancers wearing the national colors of the three host nations — Mexico, United States and Canada.

Fans were particularly excited to spot the official match balls from the 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups, symbolically honoring Shakira’s memorable contributions to previous tournaments.

According to early details, Dai Dai blends Latin pop with Afro-beat rhythms, combining Shakira’s signature vocal style with Burna Boy’s energetic sound. The song is expected to deliver a nostalgic atmosphere reminiscent of her global hit Hips Don't Lie.

Shakira has become closely associated with the FIFA World Cup through several iconic performances, including Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and La La La (Brazil 2014) during the Brazil World Cup in 2014.

The full version of Dai Dai is scheduled for official release on May 14.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup — hosted jointly by the United States, Canada and Mexico — is set to begin on June 11 and continue through July 19, featuring an expanded 48-team format for the first time in tournament history.
