Dhaka, 29 June 2024- Shakib Khan's latest Eid release, "Toofan," directed by Raihan Rafi, has dominated the box office since its release on Eid-ul-Azha, achieving immense popularity among audiences both in Bangladesh and internationally. The film stars Shakib Khan in a dual role, alongside Mimi Chakraborty from India and Nabila from Bangladesh. The cast also includes prominent actors such as Chanchal Chowdhury, Fazlur Rahman Babu, Gazi Rakayet, Salahuddin Lovelu, and Gausul Alam Shawon.
In an exclusive interview with Indian media outlet Indian Express, Shakib Khan shared his thoughts on his career and the future of Bangladeshi cinema. Despite his pivotal role in the industry, Shakib Khan remains grounded, attributing his success to the unwavering support of his fans.
"I don't feel that the weight of the film industry or anything is on my shoulders. My feeling is love, for the fans. I will work for these loving people as long as I live. But I have dreamed for a long time, many years ago, I want to see Bangladeshi cinema globally. At first, many people thought that I am talking about words, they are not possible. But what I dreamed of is now happening," said Shakib Khan.
The international release of "Toofan" on June 28 has further elevated its popularity. Shakib Khan's films, including the highly successful "Priyotoma," have received significant acclaim globally, marking a transformative period for Bangladeshi cinema.
"Our movie is officially being released globally. Last year the movie 'Priyotoma' was a huge success globally. Our acceptance in the global market has increased in famous places of the world including New York, Toronto, London, Dublin, Venice, Sydney, Paris, Middle East. We will do better in the near future," Shakib added.
"Toofan" has set new benchmarks for success, demonstrating the growing influence and appeal of Bangladeshi films on the global stage. With its exceptional reception both domestically and internationally, Shakib Khan's vision of Bangladeshi cinema reaching a worldwide audience is steadily becoming a reality.
