Election Commission working towards free, fair polls: CEC

Dhaka, Dec 31 (V7N) — Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin has said the Election Commission is prioritizing the national election over local government elections and is committed to ensuring a free, fair, impartial, and credible process.

He made the statement on Tuesday during a meeting at the Comilla Regional Election Office with officials regarding the voter list update and preparations for the 13th general election.


The CEC said: "The chief adviser mentioned the national election in his statement. We are preparing for the election in light of his remarks. Our current task is to update the voter list. We are working to remove deceased individuals and Rohingyas from the voter list. Additionally, we are encouraging young people to participate in the voter registration process."

Regarding the election, he said preparations for the national election depend on the report of the Reform Commission.
