Dhaka, Jun 03 (V7N) – The interim government's Finance Advisor, Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, has begun presenting the proposed national budget of Tk 7.90 lakh crore for the 2025–26 fiscal year.

The budget speech commenced at 3 PM on Monday and is being broadcast on Bangladesh Television (BTV), Bangladesh Betar, and various private media outlets, as the national parliament is not currently in session.

According to the Finance Ministry, this year's budget gives the highest priority to controlling inflation, increasing revenue collection, and restoring macroeconomic stability. Notably, the proposed budget is smaller than the Tk 7.97 lakh crore budget for FY2024–25, which was presented by former Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali under the previous Awami League government.

Since the parliament is not in session, there will be no formal discussion or debate on the proposed budget. However, the Finance Ministry has announced that it will gather public feedback before finalizing the budget.

Following the consultation process, the final budget will be approved at an Advisory Council meeting scheduled for any date after June 23. Thereafter, the President will issue an ordinance to enforce the budget, which will come into effect on July 1.
