Dhaka, Sep 20 (V7N) – Bangladesh Railway will operate four pairs of Puja Special trains on the Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar and Dhaka-Chittagong routes during the autumn Durga Puja festival to meet increased passenger demand. Three pairs will run on the Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar route and one pair on the Dhaka-Chittagong route from September 30 to October 4.

Each special train will have 18 coaches, with 834 seats available during the day and 789 at night. Fares will follow the regular Subarna, Sonar Bangla, and Cox’s Bazar Express rates, with 30% extra for AC seats and 20% extra for non-AC seats.

Railway officials provided the following schedule highlights:

  • Dhaka-Chittagong Special: Departs Dhaka at 2:45 pm on Sept 30, arrives Chittagong at 8:00 pm.

  • Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar Tourist Special-1002: Departs Kamalapur at 10:30 pm on Sept 30.

  • Cox’s Bazar-Dhaka Tourist Special-1001: Departs Oct 1 at 11:30 pm, arrives Dhaka at 8:00 pm.

  • Additional services will run Oct 3–4 with alternating departures between Dhaka and Cox’s Bazar and Dhaka-Chittagong, including night services.

Tarek Muhammad Imran, Deputy Chief Operating Superintendent of Railway Eastern Zone, said that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure the safe and comfortable travel of passengers during the festive period.
