Mymensingh, Mar 18 (V7N) – Abdullah Al Mamun, a 35-year-old expatriate from Gafargaon Upazila, Mymensingh, has died while undergoing treatment for injuries sustained in a missile attack in Al Kharij city, Saudi Arabia. His death has cast a shadow of grief over his hometown.
Mamun, son of Shahid Sawdagar of Bharabhara village in Rasulpur Union, was seriously injured on March 8 when a missile struck a labor camp just before Iftar. He was employed by Al Towaik Baldia Company and suffered burns over approximately 72 percent of his body.
He was admitted to Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Hospital, where he remained on life support. Doctors declared him dead at around 11:30 pm local time on Tuesday, March 17.
Relatives said Mamun was a father of one and expressed deep sorrow over his untimely death. They have also called for the immediate repatriation of his body.
Several other Bangladeshi workers were reportedly killed in the same missile strike, further heightening concerns among the expatriate community in Saudi Arabia.
