Nasrul Hamid, the state minister for power, energy, and mineral resources, said on Sunday that the gas supply situation in Dhaka and the surrounding areas will improve in a day or two.

He mentioned that the nation's floating storage and re-gasification units (FSRU) had both started up again and that things are getting better little by little.

He told reporters at his ministry, "We hope the gas shortage in Dhaka will decrease and we'll see improvement in a day or two."

He said, "But one of them will be undergoing scheduled maintenance soon," and that the gas supply typically has some issues in the winter.

However, he added, "the government has taken steps to increase the supply of LPG as approximately 80% of residential consumers currently use this liquified gas."

According to him, only those who live in Dhaka and the surrounding areas utilize pipeline gas; everyone else uses LPG.

According to him, there will be 25 lakh residential consumers after the industrial consumers are subtracted from the total number of consumers.

In addition, he disclosed that the government intends to install gas meters for every customer over the next three years.

Since the beginning of the winter season, there has been a severe gas shortage throughout the nation. But on Friday, a technical issue with one of the FSRUs caused the situation to rapidly worsen.

After the FSRU was fixed and placed back into service, Chattagram's and other areas' gas supplies slightly improved.

Another SFRU that had been slated for a 45-day maintenance period also started operating again, which substantially improved the supply.

However, the gas situation was not entirely handled.

Several parts of Dhaka, Narayanganj, and Gazipur had been dealing with severe gas leaks or low pressure issues.
