Cox's Bazar June 9,(V7N)- A total of 134 Rohingya refugees and members of the military from Myanmar who took shelter in Bangladesh during the internal conflict in Myanmar have been sent back to their homeland. In exchange, 45 Bangladeshis who were imprisoned in Myanmar have returned to Bangladesh.
 
On Sunday (June 9), at around noon, they were taken to Myanmar's waters via a Bangladeshi ship Karnaphuli-1 from the BGB jetty in the Nuniaarchar area of Cox's Bazar city. They will return to Myanmar on a ship of the Myanmar Navy stationed in Myanmar's waters.
 
Earlier, at 7:10 AM, they were brought to the BGB jetty in the Nuniaarchar area of Cox's Bazar city by four buses under the security cover of the coast guard, police, BGB, and intelligence agencies.
 
Later, at 9:50 AM, after spending a long time in detention, 45 Bangladeshis returned to Bangladesh from Myanmar's prisons. They were brought back to Bangladesh via the Bangladeshi ship Karnaphuli-1 from a ship of the Myanmar Navy stationed in Myanmar's waters.
 
Confirming the matter, additional district magistrate (ADM) Yamin Hossain of Cox's Bazar said that the process of repatriating Myanmar citizens who have taken shelter in Bangladesh and returning Bangladeshis who have served their sentences in Myanmar's prisons has been completed.
 
Earlier, on April 25, for the second time, 288 Rohingya refugees and military personnel from Myanmar who had taken shelter in Bangladesh returned to Myanmar. In return, 173 Bangladeshis returned to the country after serving their sentences in Myanmar. Before that, on February 15, Bangladesh sent back 330 Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP), military, and customs officers who had taken shelter in Bangladesh. Today, Bangladesh has sent back 134 Myanmar citizens.
