Dhaka, Oct 17 (V7N)– Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leaders have called on the government to swiftly announce the date for the upcoming national elections, emphasizing that there is no longer any excuse for delay. Speaking at a discussion meeting held at the National Press Club on Thursday morning, the BNP leaders stressed that the government has resolved other major issues and should now focus on setting a clear roadmap for the elections. They added that such an action would leave a positive legacy for the nation.

BNP Vice Chairman Shamchuzzaman Dudu, who addressed the gathering, claimed there is no parallel in history where a Prime Minister had to flee a country as happened in Bangladesh. He also referenced comments made by the Army Chief, who reportedly mentioned that shelter was provided to 66 individuals during a critical period. Dudu urged the Army Chief to disclose the names of those individuals to the public.

The BNP leaders went on to criticize Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, claiming that she deprived the people of their rights and would ultimately be forced to leave office. "Sheikh Hasina had to be ousted with nothing but the clothes on her back. This demonstrates that the people of Bangladesh do not tolerate injustice," they said.

In addition to pressing for election transparency, the leaders urged authorities not to pursue charges against BNP members related to two separate incidents, though the specifics of these cases were not discussed in detail during the meeting.

As the nation waits for the election announcement, political tensions remain high, with the BNP continuing to push for fair and timely elections.
