Dhaka, Dec 28 (V7N)— BNP Vice Chairman Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad has returned to Bangladesh after 13 years in exile. He arrived at Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday morning, where he was greeted by an overwhelming crowd of political leaders, activists, and family members.
Kaikobad, a five-time elected member of parliament from the Comilla-3 constituency and a former State Minister for Religious Affairs, had been a convicted accused in the August 21 grenade attack case. However, he was acquitted of all charges during the tenure of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, paving the way for his return.
The airport area witnessed a festive atmosphere as thousands of supporters from Muradnagar, Comilla, and people from various walks of life gathered to welcome the veteran politician back to the country. The crowd celebrated his homecoming with cheers, banners, and a show of loyalty to the long-time leader.
Kaikobad's return marks a significant moment for the BNP, as his presence is expected to bolster the party's political activities and morale amidst ongoing political developments in Bangladesh.
