Dhaka, Jan 08 (V7N)— Former Member of Parliament for Dhaka-10 constituency and former FBCCI President Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin has been arrested. The arrest took place on Wednesday morning in Sector 4, Road 13, Uttara, in the capital.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the case in which the pro-Awami League business leader has been detained.

Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, a prominent figure in the business community, served as the president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA). He was elected as an Awami League candidate in the Dhaka-10 by-election in 2020.

Further details regarding the arrest and the charges against him are awaited.
