Dhaka, June 27 (V7N) — BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has called for the issues discussed in the recent meeting between the Chief Advisor to the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, and Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin to be made public.
Salahuddin made this demand while speaking to journalists during a view-exchange at his Gulshan residence on Friday afternoon.
The meeting between the Chief Advisor and the CEC took place on Thursday at the State Guest House Jamuna. According to sources at the Chief Advisor’s office, it was a one-on-one (private) meeting. While details of the discussion remain undisclosed, it is widely believed that election-related matters were on the agenda.
Salahuddin noted that the BNP is confident elections were the primary topic during this meeting, similar to a previous private meeting between the two held in February.
Commenting on the political situation, Salahuddin said that in the current context, there is no scope for organizing local government elections. He added that the BNP believes preparations for national elections can be completed by September.
Salahuddin further stated that almost all parties agree on holding national elections and expressed hope that the interim government will remain neutral in overseeing the process.
