Natore, Feb 11 (V7N) – Shiuli Khatun, a leader of the Awami League and Women's Affairs Secretary of the Natore District Sramik League, was arrested on Monday night for recording a TikTok video of herself dancing and singing in front of the main gate of Baraigram Police Station in Natore. The arrest was confirmed by Baraigram Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Sirajul Islam.

Khatun, 42, who also serves as the Vice-President of Ward No. 4 Awami League of Baraigram Municipality, was taken into custody from her home in the Lakshmipur area of Baraigram. She is the divorced wife of Ziaur Rahman from Lakshmipur Mahalla of Baraigram Municipality. Previously, she contested the Upazila Parishad elections for the position of Women's Vice-Chairman but was defeated, running under the football symbol.

According to Baraigram Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Mahabubur Rahman, Khatun recorded the 17-second TikTok video within the police station compound, right in front of its main gate. Once the video surfaced on social media, it sparked widespread criticism and condemnation from people across the community. In response to the public outcry, police conducted a late-night raid and arrested her from her residence.

Before her arrest, Khatun spoke to local journalists, admitting her mistake. "TikTok is my addiction, that's why I recorded the video. Later, I realized that it was not right to do it in front of the police station," she stated.

OC Sirajul Islam added, "The video was recorded without our knowledge. We only became aware of it after journalists and social media brought it to our attention. She has been arrested and sent to court."

The incident has ignited debate over the responsibilities of public figures and the appropriate use of social media platforms, particularly in sensitive or official locations.
