Dhaka, Feb 12 (V7N) – Hossain Muhammad Murad, also known as Sohel Murad, the personal assistant (PS) to former Member of Parliament Sheikh Helal Uddin, was arrested at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Tuesday night.

The arrest was confirmed by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Police Commissioner (Detective Branch) Rezaul Karim, who stated that further legal action against Murad is currently underway.

According to sources, Murad was not only Sheikh Helal's PS but also acted as his cashier, amassing thousands of crores of taka through his close association with the former MP. It is alleged that Murad exploited Sheikh Helal's political influence to secure lucrative tenders and engaged in commission trading, leading to his rapid accumulation of vast wealth.

Local businessmen in Gulshan reportedly feared Murad due to his political connections, which allowed him to operate with impunity. His activities have drawn significant attention in recent years, as allegations of corruption and financial misconduct mounted.

Authorities have not yet disclosed specific charges against Murad, but his arrest is believed to be linked to ongoing investigations into corruption and illicit wealth accumulation by individuals connected to powerful political figures. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
