Dhaka, Feb 18 (V7N) – Students of Eden College have detained Baishakhi Akhter, the organizing secretary of the college branch of the now-banned Chhatra League, while she was on campus to collect her honors certificate.

The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon at Eden College campus, leading to a tense situation. Later, police arrived at the scene and rescued Baishakhi, taking her to the Lalbagh Police Station.

The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lalbagh Police Station confirmed the incident, stating, "She has been taken to the police station after being rescued from the students."

However, Eden College students have expressed their anger, alleging that the administration facilitated a "safe exit" for the detained Chhatra League leader.

The detention of Baishakhi Akhter follows the recent arrest of Dolna Akhter Dola, the secretary of the Central Chhatra League’s Forest and Environment Sub-Committee.

Dola, 27, was arrested by police on Sunday night. She hails from Kabirmamud village in Phulbari Sadar Union of Kurigram district.

The incident comes amid heightened scrutiny of former Chhatra League leaders following the ban on the organization, with law enforcement intensifying their actions against individuals linked to its activities.
