Dhaka, Feb 19 (V7N) – Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin has directed District Commissioners (DCs) to exercise their maximum legal authority to ensure a fair and transparent election process.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting with DCs at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium on Tuesday (February 18), the CEC emphasized the importance of conducting election campaigns and public awareness programs ahead of the polls.
Key Directives to DCs
- Use maximum power within the law to maintain electoral integrity.
- Resist external pressure and uphold fairness.
- Ensure public awareness about the election process.
Election Commission’s Stance
The CEC assured that the Election Commission (EC) would not exert any pressure on DCs but expects them to resist undue influence from any quarter.
“This is not a blame game. The government's main goal is to move forward and conduct fair elections,” Nasir Uddin said.
Amid ongoing political debates over local government elections, the Election Commission reiterated its commitment to maintaining neutrality and transparency in the electoral process.
